BURKE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL IMPROVEMENT PLAN:
GOAL: Improve student achievement in all areas of Reading - Phonemic Awareness, Phonics, Vocabulary, Comprehension, and Fluency.
OBJECTIVE: By May 2008, 70% of the K-3 students will read at or above grade level as measured by the DIBELS, or Houghton Mifflin Reading Inventories. 80 % of 4-5 students will read at or above grade level as measured by the STAR/SRI reading test.
GOAL: Teachers will implement the 5 components of Balanced Literacy (Phonemic Awareness, phonics, vocabulary, comprehension, and fluency)
OBJECTIVE: By May 2008, 100% of K-3 Teachers will be demonstrating the implementation of the 5 components of Balanced Literacy as measured by weekly lesson plans and the use of the CORI observation.
GOAL: Improve student achievement in Math to meet AYP targets.
OBJECTIVE: By May, 2008, 45% of the students in grades 3 - 5 will be score proficient or better on the MAP as assisted by the district coaches, pre/post tests, and the implementation of the Math program Investigations.
